We are delighted to announce that our Head of Litigation, Nick Cruz, has been appointed King’s Counsel (KC); a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional skill, dedication, and contribution to the legal profession.
Nick’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process conducted by the Judicial Services Commission, an eminent body comprising senior members of the legal profession, the Chief Justice and Court of Appeal Judges.
His success reflects not only his individual excellence but also the outstanding reputation he has built through years of high-calibre advocacy and strategic insight.
Over the course of his career, Nick has acted in a number of significant matters including appeals to our Court of Appeal and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London (in essence, the Supreme Court in London).
In recent years he has led on high profile cases in the field of Insolvency such as the recent Kijani & Ratio Fraud Case where he secured a landmark judgment of £118m for the liquidators, PWC. He has recently appeared for the Royal Gibraltar Police in high profile Judicial Review proceedings in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Additionally, he represented the interests of the RGP as Core Participants in the Ian McGrail Public Inquiry before Sir Peter Openshaw, which is due shortly to report.
His clear-sighted leadership, deep legal expertise, and unwavering commitment to client service have been instrumental in the growth and reputation of our litigation practice.
It is a tremendous honour for our firm to count a King’s Counsel among our partners. We extend our warmest congratulations to Nick on this outstanding achievement and wish him every continued success in his future career with the firm.
